Selection process

Selection criteria

The submitted ideas will be selected on the following criteria:

  • Potential of the idea as a business project
  • Feasibility
  • Originality of the idea (competitive advantage)
  • Potential visibility for Montreal

To be eligible, an idea must not have been the subject of any commercial transaction or sale.

Step 1 - Eligibility validation

Fondation Montréal inc. will verify that all project submissions fit the eligibility criteria, are duly completed and accompanied with the required visual. It may take 48 hours before the inscription is accepted and posted online. Fondation Montréal inc. reserves the right to refuse entries that do not correspond to its eligibility criteria.

The ideas that respect the eligibility criteria will remain online until the challenge’s next edition. 

Step 2 - Pre-selection

The ideas will first be filtered by a team of business volunteers from Fondation Montréal inc. They will select 25 ideas based on the selection criteria.

Fondation Montréal inc. does not have the obligation to select 25 ideas if they are judged inadmissible. 

Step 3 - Selection of the 10 best ideas

The 25 ideas will then be submitted to the evaluation committee formed by university representatives and the sponsor National Bank.  10 of the most promising ideas will be selected. The announcement of theses 10 finalists will take place at bootcamp, to which all candidates are invited.

The evaluation committee does not have the obligation to select 10 ideas if they are judged inadmissible. 

*Proof of age and education will be required if your idea is chosen as one of the 10 finalists.

Step 4 - « Popular Vote » idea’s selection

The candidate who gets the most votes will receive the “Popular Vote” Award and present his/her idea at the bootcamp on November 17 and 18, 2017.  The 10 finalists are also eligible to the “Popular Vote”.

*Proof of age and education will be required if your idea is chosen as the ''Most Liked" idea online.

Step 5 - Final selection

At the end of the bootcamp, a jury consisting of well-known personalities from the  business community will select 3 winning projects which will receive several prizes.

The jury is independent and sovereign; its decisions are final and will not be motivated. It deliberates in private.
